About Us
The Maestras are a quintet comprised of music teachers in Western Massachusetts. Most teach or have taught in the public school system. The word “Maestras” means “women teachers” in Spanish, and is a play on the Italian “maestro,” common in the music world to indicate a “master” or director of music.
Our passions are teaching our students and playing classical music. Part of what we hope with our work as a group is to show our students more live performance by artists they know, and to invite them into the world of classical music.
